Two Case of Epileptic Patients with Religious Delusion




Abstract
Two cases of epileptic patients with relatively systematized religious delusions were reported.
In the first case, the patient had suffered so much from gnawing inferiority feeling and desiredness because of the recurring epileptic attacks that he attempted to commit suicide two "tines. The experiences of recovering from two times of serious suicidal attempts gave him the belief that he was the God¢¥s chosen son. In addition his mother¢¥s religious belief also strengthened is grandious ideation. The mystical experiences of psychic seizure and prodromal symptoms were organized into his grandious ideation and finally he M.D believed that he had divine healing power so .that he actually participated in the healing ceremonies of certain kind of religious sect. In the second case, his childhood experience of religious dream which occurred under febrile delirious state was become recollected after his onset of epileptic seizures and organized into his religious delusion. Then he became a devoted Christian and every symptoms of epileptic manifestation were interpreted as revelations of God.
